Why you should hire a wedding planner/coordinator
I know what you’re thinking: Mailee, you’re a wedding planner. This entire blog is biased!
My response to that is going to have to be one thing: I became a wedding planner because of how important I think they are!!! Sure, my job is also so fun, rewarding and special; ultimately, though, I realized the importance of a professionally trained wedding planner/coordinator on August 13th, 2022.
My. Own. Wedding. Day.
I feel a little bit like a typing hypocrite as I write this blog post about how you 110% should hire a wedding professional, considering I didn’t.
So, allow me to explain some of the reasons why people think they shouldn’t or don’t need a wedding professional, before diving into the reasons why you should book one.
#1: You want to save money
Please believe me when I say that I understand this very well! And, for a lot of couples, this is a valid excuse. So here’s what I’ll say here: If you have any extra space in the budget for, at the very least, a wedding coordinator, I say do it. If you don’t have extra space in the budget, do ALL you can to ensure that whoever is coordinating your wedding is VERY well prepared.
#2: You love to DIY
This is also something I relate to. And while I’m all for saving money by making things yourself, to DIY an entire wedding is a bit much. Many of the brides I know that DIY’d their whole wedding didn’t think just how much work goes into that. Plus, you, as the bride, have no time to set up your DIY on the wedding day!
#3: Weddings aren’t ‘that’ hard
Couldn’t tell you guys how often I’ve heard this. It’s bizarre. So much goes into a wedding that most people don’t even think about!
Now!!! Let’s dive into the reasons why you should hire a wedding professional for your day.
#1: It’s literally their job
Typically, and hopefully, if someone is working in a specific field, this should mean that they are going to be better in said-field than other individuals! Wedding planners spend most of their time planning weddings so they know the ins and the outs of the wedding industry!
#2: They can take your vision and make it reality
This is one of the biggest parts of being a wedding planner: creating your perfect wedding day. Because they’ve done multiple weddings, they know how to look/listen to your dream and then transfer it into a reality.
#3: Budgeting and vendor help
Budgeting is tough when it comes to weddings, as is knowing which vendors are actually reliable/easy going + worth the money! I find that there are a lot of unknowns when it comes to figuring out who to book!
#4: Saves you stress and time
Wedding planning can be incredibly stressful and time consuming! By hiring a wedding planner, specifically, you immediately shuffle that stress over to someone else. This typically means less stress for you, and more time on your hands while engaged!
#5: Can often save you money in the long run
Wedding planners like myself can help with so many financials. We are responsible in ensuring you stay within budget (you’d be absolutely shocked how easy it is to go over), we can help with contractual complications, booking vendors that fit the budget, reading between the lines when it comes to contracts, and great money saving tips as a whole!
And, most importantly, WEDDING DAY HELP! Decorations, coordinating, cleaning up of messes (both physical and emotional!) and little details will all be handled if you book a wedding planner or coordinator. They will ensure the least amount of stress for the couple on their wedding day!
All in all, I’m a firm believer in booking a wedding planner or coordinator for your special day. You should be able to fully enjoy your special day!
